About The Role

Anyone can move dirt. A good operator knows exactly where it needs to finish.

Max People are looking for an experienced Final Trim Excavator Operator to join a busy civil construction team working across North Canterbury.

This role is all about precision, accuracy, and a quality finish. You'll primarily operate smaller excavators across subdivision, school, council, commercial, and civil projects, carrying out final trim, detailed excavation, levelling, drainage preparation, and finishing work.

You'll need to be comfortable working from plans, levels, and laser measurements and have the patience and skill to get those final details right.

This is a great opportunity for an operator who takes genuine pride in their machine work and enjoys seeing a site come together properly. With modern equipment, a strong pipeline of projects, and consistent full-time work, you'll have plenty of opportunity to put your skills to work across a variety of sites.

If precision is your thing and leaving a tidy finish gives you more satisfaction than shifting a mountain of dirt, we'd like to hear from you.

What's In It For You

  • $30–$32 per hour, depending on experience
  • Full-time, consistent work
  • Long-term pipeline of civil projects
  • Modern, well-maintained machinery

  • Completing daily machine inspections and basic maintenance
  • Working closely with site supervisors and ground crews
  • Assisting the wider crew when required
  • Maintaining a high standard of accuracy, workmanship, and site safety

What We Require

  • Proven excavator operating experience within civil construction
  • Strong experience operating smaller excavators
  • Demonstrated final trim and finishing experience
