Full Job Description
Located near Gore, this family-owned and operated dairy farm offers a supportive, well-organised working environment with modern systems and genuine work-life balance. The operation milks 600 cows through a 40-aside herringbone shed fitted with ACRs, Protrack, and automatic teat spraying. The herd is split-calving, with approximately 400 Friesian cows calving in August/September and a further 200 cows calving in February/March, supporting consistent year-round milk production.The farm also runs a 550-cow wintering barn, feeding out via a BVL mixer wagon, and is fully self-contained with two nearby run-off blocks. All cows are monitored using Halter technology, allowing proactive animal management and reduced physical workload.

Tasks:

  • Milking 600 cows through a 40-aside herringbone shed
  • Supporting animal health using Halter monitoring systems
  • Feeding out and winter barn support using a BVL mixer wagon
  • General farm duties including stock movement and shed hygiene
  • Tractor and machinery operation (John Deere, Claas, JCB)
  • Supporting silage operations (all silage cut in-house)

Requirements:

  • Previous dairy farming experience essential
  • Confident milking in herringbone sheds
  • Comfortable working with modern technology and farm systems
  • Good English communication skills
  • Reliable, motivated, and team focused
  • Legal right to work in New Zealand (AEWV not available)
