Drain Layer | Civil Water | Christchurch

Max People are looking for an experienced Drain Layer to join a busy civil crew working across Christchurch.

We’re also keen to hear from people with a strong background in civil water infrastructure who have the practical skills to step into a drainage role.

You’ll be working across civil projects involving drainage and water infrastructure, so we’re looking for someone who knows their way around a pipe, understands levels and can get stuck in without needing their hand held.

‍What You’ll Be Doing

• Working on stormwater, wastewater and water main projects
• Installing pipes, fittings and connections
• Reading plans and working to levels
• Assisting with trenching and general drainage activities
• Working alongside experienced civil crews
• Following construction plans and specifications
• Maintaining safe and tidy work areas
• Pitching in wherever needed to keep the job moving

What We’re Looking For

• Proven experience as a Drain Layer or in civil water works
• Experience with stormwater, wastewater and/or water mains
• Confident working with pipes, fittings and connections
• Able to read plans and understand levels
• Good understanding of civil construction practices
• Reliable and hardworking
• Able to work well as part of a team
• Strong health & safety focus
• WTR endorsements would be an advantage
• Valid Site Safe or Construct Safe – we can assist with this
• Ability to pass a pre-employment Drug test
• Legal right to work in New Zealand
