Full Job Description

‍We're looking for a motivated Dairy Farm Assistant to join a well-run family farm based in Lincoln, Canterbury from August through until January.This is a fantastic opportunity for someone wanting genuine hands-on experience across all aspects of a New Zealand dairy farm while still being close to Christchurch city.The farm milks 600 cows through a modern 44-aside herringbone shed fitted with:

• Afimilk collar system
• Automatic cup removers
• Automatic teat spray system

Spread across 315 hectares, this is a varied role where no two days are the same.

‍About The Role

‍You'll be involved with:

• Calving and calf rearing
• Milking and milk quality
• General stock work and animal health
• Fencing and general farm maintenance
• Irrigation shifts
• Feeding out and pasture work

An added bonus for this role is the opportunity to get involved with machinery and tractor work, as the farm completes all its own baleage including:

• Mowing
• Baling
• Wrapping
• Feed management

The farm also operates its own runoff block located just 15 minutes away, where supplement feed is grown for the dairy platform.

‍What We're Looking For‍

• Some dairy farming or stock experience preferred
• Good attitude and willingness to learn
• Physically fit and reliable
• Tractor experience advantageous but not essential
• Someone who enjoys variety and being part of a family farming team
