Full Job Description:

‍Located in the Southbridge area, this is a great opportunity for a Dairy Assistant to join a well-established 1,000-cow dairy farm across 260 hectares.

The farm operates a modern 48-bale rotary shed with ACRs and uses K-Line and pivot irrigation. There are tractors and other farm machinery available, and the farm also has an off-farm run-off block. Leeston township is close by for your everyday essentials and a bit of time away from the farm.

This is a permanent position for one person, suited to someone looking for a long-term farming opportunity. With a 6 days on / 2 days off roster, season depending, you'll have a good balance of work and time off.

Tasks:‍

• Milking and daily shed operations
• General dairy farm duties
• Animal handling and stock management
• Feeding and supporting day-to-day farm operations
• Irrigation duties using K-Line and pivots
• Tractor and machinery work
• General farm maintenance
• Supporting seasonal farm work and the wider farm team

Requirements:‍

• Previous dairy farming experience preferred
• Good stock sense and animal handling skills
• Reliable and hardworking approach
• Comfortable working as part of a team
• Willingness to get involved in a range of farm duties
• Good communication skills
• Full driver's licence preferred
• Legal right to work in New Zealand
• This is a permanent role and is not suitable for working holiday backpackers
