Full Job Description:

‍Based in the Methven area, this is a great opportunity for an experienced Dairy Assistant to join a well-established Dairy Holdings contract milking operation.With around 1,200 cows and a 54-bale rotary shed, this is a large-scale dairy operation offering plenty of opportunity to build your experience and get involved in the day-to-day running of a busy farm.

You'll be joining a young and energetic team that takes its work seriously without taking itself too seriously. Health and safety is a strong focus on the farm, with a culture where people are expected to look out for themselves and each other.

This is an assignment running from immediate start through to January 2027, making it ideal for someone looking for several months of consistent dairy work.

• Temporary assignment through to January 2027
• Immediate start
• 1 person required
• Herd size: Approximately 1,200 cows
• Location: Methven area, Mid Canterbury
• Wage: $26 per hour
• Accommodation: Own accommodation
• Roster: Farm roster to be confirmed, with flexibility required around the needs of the operation
• Large-scale commercial dairy operation

Tasks:‍

• Milking and daily shed operations
• Animal health and stock handling
• Feeding and general dairy farm duties
• Supporting the team with day-to-day farm operations
• General farm maintenance
• Operating 2-wheelers, quad bikes and side-by-sides as required
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, safety and animal care
• Assisting with seasonal farm work as required

Requirements:‍

• Previous dairy farming experience essential
• Good stockmanship and animal handling skills
• Reliable and hardworking approach
• Comfortable working in a larger-scale dairy operation
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Able to work safely and follow farm H&S procedures
• Own accommodation in the Methven area required
• Full driver's licence preferred
• Legal right to work in New Zealand
