Full Job Description

Based in Westerfield, Ashburton, this is a fantastic opportunity to join a forward-thinking, family-owned dairy business. The farm covers 480 ha total (455 ha effective), milking 850 cows through a modern DeLaval rotary shed, supported by centre pivots, K-line sprinklers, and fixed grid irrigation. You'll be part of a well-established team focused on high animal health standards, efficiency, and sustainable farming practices. The operation runs as a self-contained system with all young stock and wintering managed in-house, providing a great opportunity to gain wide-ranging experience across the farming cycle.

• Start Date: June 1st 
• Duration: Open to short or long term 
• Shared accommodation provided
• Located ~16 km west of Ashburton
• Work as part of a team of 4-5 full-time staff plus seasonal support

Tasks:‍

• Milking 850 cows in a DeLaval rotary shed
• General farm duties including fencing, feeding out, and stock movement
• Assisting with irrigation (centre pivots, K-line) and effluent management
• Crop work support - fodder beet, kale, barley, oats, and lucerne
• Daily herd health observation and data recording
• Maintaining clean, safe, and efficient work practices

Requirements:‍

• Minimum 1 years' dairy experience preferred
• Good English and communication skills
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn
• Ability to work well in a team environment
• Legal right to work in New Zealand (AEWV not available for this role)
