Dairy Assistant | Culverden, North Canterbury

The farm milks approximately 980 cows through a herringbone shed fitted with ACRs, Protrack and Halter technology. Irrigation is managed through pivots and fixed grids, with John Deere tractors and Honda bikes available for the day-to-day work.

The role would suit someone with at least one full season of dairy farming experience who is keen to build on their skills and become a valued part of the team.

Accommodation is available for a family, with the house becoming available from mid-October. A single person could potentially start earlier, making this a flexible opportunity depending on your circumstances.

• Wage: $26–$28 per hour, depending on experience

Farm Systems & Equipment:‍

What You Will Be Doing:‍

• Milking and daily shed operations
• Bringing stock in and general stock work
• Assisting with animal health and herd management
• Feeding and general farm duties
• Irrigation monitoring and operation
• Operating farm vehicles and equipment
• General farm maintenance
• Supporting the wider team with seasonal and day-to-day farm work
• Maintaining high standards of animal care, cleanliness and safety

What We Require:‍

• Minimum 1 full season of dairy farming experience
• Previous milking experience essential
• Good stock sense and confidence handling livestock
• Reliable and hardworking approach
• Willingness to learn and get involved across the farm
• Ability to work well as part of a team
• Good communication skills
• Legal right to work in New Zealand
