‍This is a fantastic opportunity to join a high-producing dairy farm near Balclutha, with a strong focus on genetics, animal performance and good farming practices.

Milking around 475 cows across 200 hectares, with a further 147-hectare run-off, this is a well-established operation with a strong pedigree. The farm's Holstein Friesian genetics have won awards, and the herd is known for its high production.

This is a great learning farm for someone who wants to develop their skills and gain experience across the full dairy operation. The main focus will be milking and helping with calves, while also getting involved in the wider day-to-day running of the farm.

The farm operates a 38-aside herringbone shed with in-shed feeding, along with pivot and K-Line irrigation.

• Wage: $27 per hour
• Roster: 11 days on / 3 days off
• Accommodation: Shared accommodation available for $100 per week

Farm Systems & Equipment:‍

• 38-aside herringbone shed
• In-shed feeding
• Pivot irrigation across approximately 120 hectares
• K-Line irrigation across approximately 40 hectares
• Quad bike
• Side-by-side

Tasks:‍

• Milking and daily shed operations
• Helping with calves and youngstock
• Animal health and stock handling
• Feeding and general dairy farm duties
• Supporting the team with day-to-day farm operations
• Irrigation and general farm maintenance as required
• Maintaining high standards of animal care and farm presentation

Requirements:‍

• Previous dairy farming experience preferred
• Good stock sense and a genuine interest in working with animals
• Willingness to learn and develop your dairy skills
• Reliable and hardworking approach
• Comfortable working as part of a team
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work the 11/3 roster
• Legal right to work in New Zealand
