Full Job Description

‍This opportunity is based in Southland, on a well-established and highly systemised dairy farm milking 820 cows across 450 hectares. The farm operates a 54-bail rotary shed fitted with ACRs, Allflex collars, automatic drafting, and teat wand technology, enabling efficient herd management and strong animal health outcomes.

The operation includes a 250 ha run-off block nearby, a winter milking system, split calving, and a wintering barn, providing excellent year-round variety and exposure to modern large-farm systems. With two dedicated tractor drivers on farm, the team structure is well supported and clearly defined.

• Start Date: Late January/Eary February
• Pay Rate: $30 per hour
• Roster: 5 days on / 2 days off
• Location:, Southland

Tasks:‍

• Milking 820 cows through a modern 54-bail rotary shed
• Using Allflex collars and auto drafting to support herd management
• Assisting with split calving and winter milking systems
• Supporting wintering barn operations and animal care
• General farm duties including feeding, stock movement, and shed hygiene
• Working alongside tractor drivers and the wider team to support daily operations

Requirements:‍

• Previous dairy farming experience essential
• Comfortable working in large herds and rotary sheds
• Confident handling livestock and following farm systems
• Good English communication skills
• Reliable, safety-focused, and team oriented
• Legal right to work in New Zealand (AEWV not available)
