‍Based near Ashburton, this short-term role is ideal for someone wanting solid hands-on experience and to be part of a well-run, supportive team over the summer months. The farm milks 1,050 cows through a 54-bail rotary with ACRs, automatic backing gate, and AI technology, supported by 4 pivots and K-Line irrigation.You’ll join a motivated crew working across the main dairy platform and two lease blocks, managing their own young stock and wintering. With the Southern Alps and Mt Hutt just 20 minutes away, it’s the perfect mix of rewarding farm work and outdoor adventure.

‍Details:

• Start Date: 1st November
• End Date: January 2026
• Location: Mid Canterbury (20 mins to Ashburton, 15 mins to Methven, 60 mins to Christchurch)
• Roster: 5 days on, 2 off
• Accommodation: Single quarters
• Hours: 45–50 per week,

Tasks:

• Milking 1,050 cows in a 54-bail rotary with ACRs and AI system
• General farm duties including bringing in stock, fencing, and feeding out
• Irrigation and effluent management using pivots and K-Line
• Support during calving and young stock management
• Maintaining high standards of hygiene and animal welfare

Requirements:

• Dairy or livestock experience preferred
• Willingness to learn and contribute to the team
• Good English and communication skills
• Legal right to work in New Zealand (AEWV not available for this role)
• Strong work ethic and enthusiasm for outdoor work
