Class 5 Civil Driver | Christchurch

Max People are looking for a highly competent Class 5 Driver to join a busy civil and drainage operation in Christchurch.

Let’s be clear – this is not the role for someone who has just picked up their Class 5 licence. We need someone who is confident behind the wheel of heavy combination vehicles, knows how to reverse a truck and trailer without requiring a 14-point plan, and can confidently operate in a busy civil environment.

You’ll primarily be carting and tipping materials, including shingle, while supporting drainage and earthworks crews.

‍What You’ll Be Doing

• Driving a Kenworth with Road Ranger gearbox
• Operating truck and tipulator trailer units
• Carting and tipping shingle and other civil materials
• Confidently reversing and positioning truck and trailer combinations
• Loading, transporting and safely tipping materials
• Working around excavators, machinery, crews and other heavy vehicles
• Understanding and following safe tipping and load management practices
• Assisting with general civil labouring when required
• Working safely and productively as part of the crew

What We Require

• Full NZ Class 5 licence
• Proven experience driving heavy combination vehicles
• Strong experience reversing truck and trailer/tipulator combinations
• Confident with a Road Ranger manual gearbox
• Experience carting and tipping loads
• Good understanding of working safely around a busy civil site
• Civil, drainage or earthworks experience preferred
• Site Safe preferred/required
• Strong safety awareness and reliable work ethic
• Able and willing to jump out of the truck and help the crew when required
• Ability to pass a pre-employment Drug test
