Class 4 Driver | Civil Operator

‍Not your average truck driving job.

Max People are looking for an experienced Class 4 Driver / Civil Operator to join a busy civil construction team working across Christchurch and wider Canterbury.

This is the role for someone who doesn't want to spend their entire day sitting behind the wheel. You'll split your time between operating Class 4 trucks and getting hands-on with civil machinery and site work, including earthworks, drainage, roading, and subdivision projects.

One day you could be carting materials, the next jumping on an excavator, loader, or roller and helping the crew get the job finished. You'll work alongside experienced civil teams where everyone pitches in and safety, productivity, and quality matter.

If you've got your Class 4, WTR endorsements, civil experience, and a "get stuck in" attitude, this could be the move you've been looking for.

What You Will Be Doing

• Operating Class 4 trucks safely and efficiently
• Operating excavators, loaders, rollers, and other civil plant
• Carting and moving materials around construction sites
• Assisting with earthworks, drainage, roading, and site preparation
• Supporting ground crews and other operators as required
• Completing daily pre-starts and basic machine checks
• Working closely with Site Supervisors and crews to keep projects moving
• Maintaining high standards of health and safety
• Pitching in with general civil tasks when required

What We Require

• Current Class 4 NZ Driver Licence
• WTR endorsements essential
• Previous civil construction experience
• Proven experience operating heavy machinery
• Strong understanding of civil site safety
• Reliable, hardworking, and positive attitude
• Ability to work independently and as part of a crew
• Class 5 Licence advantageous but not essential
• Site Safe or Construct Safe – we can assist with this
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
