About The Role

‍Max People are recruiting on behalf of a respected specialist civil contractor for an experienced Civil Leading Hand to deliver underground fuel infrastructure projects throughout the South Island.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll lead a small crew while remaining actively involved on site. You'll be responsible for coordinating daily activities, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil professional looking to step into a long-term role with a company delivering specialist infrastructure projects across commercial and industrial sites.

What You Will Be Doing

• Leading daily site operations
• Supervising operators and labourers
• Coordinating plant and labour resources
• Conducting toolbox meetings
• Reading and interpreting construction drawings
• Completing QA documentation
• Coordinating deliveries and subcontractors
• Maintaining strong health and safety standards
• Mentoring junior team members
• Liaising with Project Managers

What We Require

• Previous Leading Hand experience
• Minimum 5 years' civil construction experience
• Drainage or underground services background
• WTR endorsement
• Minimum Class 2 Driver Licence
• Strong communication skills
• Organised and proactive leadership style
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
• Valid NZ working rights

Roster

This role involves travelling throughout the South Island on a 2-week roster. You'll typically leave on a Monday morning and return home on the Friday at the end of the second week, with the middle Sunday off.All travel, accommodation, and away allowances are provided while working away.
