About The Role

‍Max People are recruiting for an experienced Civil Leading Hand to join a major civil construction team delivering infrastructure and subdivision projects throughout Queenstown.This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated civil professional who enjoys leading from the front. The successful candidate will supervise a small crew while remaining hands-on with day-to-day civil construction activities.Working with one of New Zealand's leading Tier One civil contractors, this role offers exposure to a variety of infrastructure projects and the opportunity to further develop leadership skills within a well-established organisation.‍

What You Will Be Doing

• Supervising a crew of 3–8 workers
• Coordinating daily site activities and workflow
• Reading and interpreting construction drawings
• Ensuring projects remain on programme
• Liaising with Site Managers and Project Managers
• Completing drainage, kerb, channel, footpath, and subdivision works
• Ensuring quality standards are achieved across all work
• Promoting and maintaining safe work practices
• Operating machinery where required
• Leading by example and supporting crew productivity

What We Require

• Minimum 5 years' civil construction experience
• Previous experience leading civil crews
• Strong drainage and earthworks knowledge
• Ability to organise labour, materials, and plant efficiently
• Experience working on subdivision and infrastructure projects
• Strong communication and leadership skills
• Full Class 1 Driver Licence
• WTR Endorsement
• Class 2 Licence preferred
• Site Safe Passport preferred
• First Aid Certificate advantageous
• Confined Space certification advantageous
• Traffic Management qualifications advantageous
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
• Valid NZ working rights
