About The Role

We are currently seeking an experienced Civil 2IC (Second-in-Charge) to support the Foreman and help lead crews on civil construction projects across Christchurch and surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil operator or senior labourer who is ready to step into a leadership role while remaining hands-on with day-to-day civil works.

As the 2IC, you will work closely with the Foreman to assist with site coordination, guide crews, and ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

What You Will Be Doing‍

• Supporting the Foreman with daily site operations
• Assisting with supervising and guiding civil crews
• Working on earthworks, drainage, pavements and general civil works
• Operating plant and machinery when required
• Coordinating tools, materials and equipment for daily tasks
• Ensuring work is completed to site safety and quality standards
• Assisting with toolbox talks and pre-start meetings
• Helping manage subcontractors and site activities when required
• Maintaining clean and organised work areas

What We Require‍

• Strong experience in civil construction
• Experience with earthworks, drainage or subdivision projects
• Previous leadership or crew supervision experience
• Ability to read plans and follow project instructions
• WTR endorsements an advantage
• Strong commitment to health and safety
• Reliable with good communication skills
• Valid Site Safe or Construct Safe – we can assist with this
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
