Carpenter/Operator - Fencing & Machinery Work

About The Role

‍Our client is a family-run fencing company looking for either an experienced Machine Operator/Lead Fencer or someone with transferable skills in building, landscaping, or machinery operation who is keen to learn and grow with them. This role replaces a valued team member heading overseas and offers the chance to work across industrial, residential, civil, and school sites throughout the South Island, primarily based in Christchurch. The role is varied, with a mix of machine operating, delivery driving, and fencing work. Machinery is used to auger post holes, move goods, and support site operations.

What You Will Be Doing

• Operating machinery (diggers, skidsteers, light trucks)
• Driving and delivering materials
• Assisting with fencing and construction work
• Supporting site operations across varied projects

What We Require

• Full Driver’s Licence (Class 2 an advantage)
• Experience operating machinery and power tools — or willingness to learn
• Physically fit and reliable with a strong work ethic
• Background in fencing/building/landscaping (preferred but not essential)
• Great communication skills with clients, suppliers, and team
• Ability to pass pre-employment drug testing and police vetting
