Max People is building experienced asphalt and roading crews for major infrastructure projects across the South Island, with immediate starts available.

We're looking for people who know their way around a roadworks site — whether you're an asphalt operator, roller operator, Class 2/4 driver, labourer or multi-skilled civil operator.

Projects will be based around Christchurch, Queenstown, Blenheim and the wider Marlborough region, with locations varying depending on the project.

If you're happy to travel, get stuck in and work as part of a good crew, we'd love to hear from you.

What Roles Are Available?

We are seeking experienced people across a range of positions, including:

  • Asphalt Paving Machine Operators
  • Asphalt Roller Operators
  • Milling Machine Operators
  • Sealing Crew Members
  • Class 2 & Class 4 Drivers
  • Asphalt Labourers
  • Multi-skilled Civil Operators

What You Will Be Doing

Depending on your experience and the project, your work may include:

  • Asphalt paving and surfacing
  • Chip sealing and reseal works
  • Milling and profiling
  • Operating rollers, paving and other heavy machinery
  • Civil construction and road maintenance
  • General labouring and supporting site crews
  • Working safely around live traffic and active work zones

What We Require

  • Previous asphalt, roading or civil construction experience
  • Full NZ Class 2 or Class 4 Licence where required
  • WTR (Wheels, Tracks & Rollers) endorsement
  • Strong commitment to health and safety
  • Physically fit with a strong work ethic
  • Reliable and willing to work as part of a team
  • Willingness to travel throughout the South Island
  • Ability to work day and night shifts as required
  • Ability to stay away from home for project work
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Valid Site Safe or Construct Safe – we can assist with this

Highly Regarded

  • Class 5 Licence
  • Traffic Management qualifications – TC, TMO or STMS
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Experience operating paving, milling or sealing equipment

The Fine Print

Projects may involve extended hours and stay-away work during busy periods, so flexibility is important. You'll need to be comfortable working outdoors in a physically demanding environment and travelling to where the work is.

ALL APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE LEGAL RIGHT TO WORK IN NEW ZEALAND.
