Agricultural Machinery Operator

Full Job Description:

‍Based in South Canterbury, this is an opportunity for a capable and experienced Machinery Operator to join a well-established rural operation specialising in hedge cutting and general on-farm machinery work.The primary responsibility will be operating a tractor-mounted hedge cutter, along with other agricultural machinery. This role suits someone mechanically minded, confident on heavy equipment, and comfortable working independently while maintaining high standards.There will be variety in the role, including occasional stay-away jobs when working on projects outside the immediate area.

‍Remuneration:‍

• $32 per hour base rate
• $40 per hour when operating hedge cutting machinery
• This role offers excellent earning potential for capable operators confident running specialist equipment

• Location: South Canterbury
• Work truck provided
• Accommodation available (single self-contained unit or 3-bedroom home)
• Occasional stay-away work required

Role & Responsibilities:‍

• Operating hedge cutting machinery safely and efficiently
• Tractor operation and general agricultural machinery work
• Maintaining equipment to a high standard
• Carrying out basic mechanical checks and troubleshooting
• Working directly with rural clients and maintaining professional communication
• Ensuring quality workmanship across all projects

Requirements:‍

• Strong mechanical understanding
• Previous experience operating diggers or heavy machinery
• High standard of workmanship and attention to detail
• Good communication skills and client interaction
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of equipment
• Legal right to work in New Zealand
