2IC Drainage - Christchurch

About The Role:
Max People are on the hunt for an experienced 2IC Drainage professional to support a busy civil drainage crew in Christchurch. This is your chance to take the next step in your career, working alongside a respected foreman on large-scale infrastructure, subdivisions, and drainage upgrades. You’ll be the right-hand person – keeping the crew on track, maintaining safety standards, and ensuring quality work is delivered to spec.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Assisting the Foreman in managing daily site operations
• Leading and motivating a small drainage team
• Reading and interpreting site plans and drainage drawings
• Operating plant & equipment when required (excavators, loaders)
• Ensuring health & safety protocols are followed at all times
• Monitoring progress and quality of work

What We’re Looking For:

• Proven drainage experience in civil construction
• Leadership skills – able to step in and run the crew when needed
• Confident operating machinery and using hand tools
• Knowledge of stormwater, wastewater, and sewer systems
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills
• Valid Site Safe or Construct Safe – we can assist with this
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test
• WTR endorsements & Class 2 licence highly advantageous
